The Tong-il Moo-do Martial Art was introduced by Grand Master Dr. Joon Ho Seuk in 1979 in New York through the inspiration of Dr. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon in order to create a unified martial art by unifying and harmonizing the best essence of all the different techniques of the various martial arts schools centered on universal values. Also, Tong-il Moo-do seeks to bring martial arts into a perfect “Moo-Do.”
Tong-il Moo-do techniques is composed of circular movements (soft or gentle movements) and linear movements (rigid movements) and also adopted and developed various circular movements.
Tong-il Moo-do students are required to train both martial arts skills (external) and the practice of universal values in their daily lives (internal). In this way, TIMD helps its practitioner to grow both physically and spiritually into people of true character.
The main purpose of TIMD is to help trainees realized three fundamental goals of life.
- Becoming a person of mature character who learns self-control, respect, responsibility and oneness.
- Establishing a happy and healthy family life.
- Using our creative abilities to make a positive contribution to the society.
1. It can give trainees healthy physical training and help them to develop a healthy character.
2. It is very comprehensive and systematic in its variety of techniques and forms, unified warming up exercises, comprehensive forms of circular move and straight moves, unified self-defense and unified weapon techniques.
3. Practicing the comprehensive techniques and skills can aid the creation of a healthy body.
